Forum Rules

Welcome to the Backbreaker Forum! We want people to enjoy themselves here, and we also want to be sure that any actions taken regarding certain posts are fair and consistent. With this in mind we've laid out a few basic guidelines. If you have any comments or questions regarding this policy, please add them to this thread.

Being Nice to Each Other
First and foremost, we want this forum to be a friendly place. We welcome considered debate and we know disagreements do happen. We will intervene, however, when a debate turns into a row. We will close any threads and delete posts if anything gets out of hand.

If you feel a post is abusive or inflammatory in anyway, please use the 'report post' feature to let us know. Retaliating will only escalate the situation and create more clean-up work for the moderators. We will not show any leniency toward retaliatory posts. (The moderators' first duty is to keep the forum clean, not to arbitrate disagreements.)

Staying on Topic
If someone starts a discussion thread on a particular subject, please try to stay on topic when responding to it. We may move posts to more relevant areas where necessary.

If a new discussion branches from an existing thread, by all means post a new thread and continue, but we may lock threads where the original topic has been lost. Where necessary, sections will have a sticky post with further details about the protocol for posting. Please read these before you create a new thread. We may lock or delete new threads that bring up an issue already being discussed elsewhere on the forum.

We also require all discussions to be conducted in English. We will remove any foreign language posts as we're mostly unable to moderate their content. Please be patient with users who may not have a high standard of English. If you don't understand what someone has written, do ask them to clarify what they mean, but don't attack their level of ability.

Personal Information
We have a responsibility to protect our users' privacy (and their inboxes) and we have no way of verifying that any details posted belong to the posting user, so we will act to remove personal contact details from any posts.

We're quite happy for you to post your own website details, however, since these are public documents. (Though we clearly have no control over their content, and may remove the link if it points to any illegal or unpleasant material.)

File Attachments.
There are limits on the type and size of attachments. Images are restricted to a sensible size and executable files are blocked completely for security reasons. Plase note, however, that we cannot guarantee the safety of every attachment on this forum, so please excercise caution when downloading files.

We won't generally act to censor any attachments unless the spirit in which they are posted breaks our more general rules (see: Being Nice to Each Other). Such infringing material, including copyrighted works will be removed without notice and the user may be banned indefinitely.

Multiple accounts
Creating multiple accounts on this forum for any purpose is expressly forbidden. If it is clear to us that a second account has been created in a deliberate attempt to deceive or abuse other users or to circumvent a ban, then all that user's accounts will be banned, permanently.

Sanctions
Mostly, we find that locking a thread or deleting infringing posts is enough and pursue no further sanctions against members. However, in rare occasions where a member ignores warnings regarding their posts, we will serve a temporary ban and contact the user directly to explain our decision.

If some personal differences spill into more than one thread we may serve temporary bans on all involved parties. Please don't take this too personally if you happen to be subjected to this, as we simply wish to keep the forum usable by everyone else. Once we have investigated and removed the offending posts, we will likely reinstate everyone.

Permanent bans are almost always unnecessary, and will only be used where it becomes obvious that a given member's intention is to disrupt things for everyone else.

If you have any questions about this policy, post them here. If you have any complaints to make regarding a post or a user, then use the 'contact us' link or report the offending post using the link provided.

Please note that by posting any content, ideas or suggestions to this forum, you are granting NaturalMotion ltd. full, perpetual and royalty-free rights to use, adapt, modify or otherwise disseminate those submissions in this or any future title on any platform.
